Draper Idol

I ran for Draper Idol this last week. I have never been more scared in my life I swear. I am up there on the stage with all these high school aged kids. How intimidating. I sang Feeling Good by Michael Buble' and then This is the Moment from Jekyl and Hyde. It was a good experience. I was the Second Runner-up. (I call it sceond loser for fun!!!) One of the judges told me I would have won if I had sung younger songs? What the? He told me I should try rock songs. HA- me singing rock songs, now that is funny. Anyway here are some pics of the big event:

Thanks to my family, my boss Brandi, and awesome friends like the Sanovich's and Schraders for coming out to support me- it's good to have "peeps"

All I can say is it was 'rigged'. Hands down you have one of the nicest voices I've heard! You should have won. Next year I'm gonna be a judge and you'll win for sure!

Hey, look at that, you even got a trophy to show for it! Congrats on your almost win. But you know how these things work... If you want to win next year's edition, better start schmoozing the right persons right away!

I would SO love to know what it is that you said in the middle picture. You look so pleased with yourself and the other two are looking at you like, Who IS this guy?!

You are definitely missed!

Congrats, Jaron. You know how to have fun. I love that you're showing your kids that putting yourself "out there" can be risky, yes, but can be a lot of fun, too! Go, Jaron! Jill

Dear Jaron,
Congrats on so many levels--the "Idol Title," new job, your first UCL project, and of course for being a good friend, devoted husband, and all-around-silly Dad. Oops, not to imply you were "round." Sophie is a hoot. Mine are 13 and 22 so the filters are working overtime. I always say something archaic from my own teenage past when trying to be the "cool mom." First year I am not attending Convention. I will miss SLC, the heat (our low temps have been around 42 degrees!) the inspiration and all the creativity. I am consoling myself by working on a BLOG. For me, that is like jumping into the deep end of the pool. When it is up and running I'll set you up with a link. All the best with your new job and all your other endeavors. My friend hinted that walking can work off "puffy bellies," so I starting really FAST walking again. I am up to 50 minutes since re-starting on July 1. Later, lorijane near the BIG pond

Well, I'm on my way to Convention in the morning and I'm soooooo sad you won't be there, at least as a part of the team, because you are so awesome...... Hey, maybe you can do you idol for the entertainment night next year!!! How cool would that be. We'll miss you!!!!!!

Jaron! You were missed at the SU convention this week!
Remember when you called me to ask me to speak? Well, I did it! Shannon was amazing to work with and I had so much fun!
I am so glad you were able to find a job that you enjoy and you didn't need to move! Thanks for your integrity and character! I wanted you to know that you were missed!

I also missed seeing and hearing you perform this week at convention. Glad you found a nice place to work that reflects your awesome creative side! Sophie is a hoot! If interested I have pics of your darling kids from last year's convention playing in all the confetti that dropped after the UPS truck arrived. Sophie is so cute in them.

I really missed seeing you at the SU convention. :( Wasn't the same without hearing your talks and seeing your demonstrations. Congrats on the new job and best wishes in all that you do!

Jaron, you haven't posted recently but I want you to know how greatly you were missed at convention. No one came close to entertaining us with song or wowing us with projects that this convention like you have. Your spirit and excitement was sorely missed. It wasn't the same without you and Linda. I wanted you to know how I felt and that you were thought of often last week. God bless you richly.
